The United States Solheim Cup team is doing what it was supposed to do.
The heavily favored American will take a hefty 10 1/2 to 5 1/2 lead into Sunday’s singles finale.
That huge margin means the United States only needs 3 1/2 points to retain the cup and a runaway victory is not out of the question.
After a 2-2 standoff in the morning Four-Ball, the Americans once again dominated the Four-Ball (best-ball) format. They’ve gone up 7-1 in those matches.
Europe’s only afternoon point came when Anna Nordqvist and partner Jodi Ewart Shadoff beat Lizette Salas and Angel Yin, 4-and-2.
Nordqvist, who is still recovering from mononucleosis, played two matches again on Saturday as she’s been Europe’s best player so far.
Lexi Thompson will go out in Sunday’s first singles match and face off with Nordqvist. Thompson, playing with Cristie Kerr, won both matches on Saturday. Those two points made Kerr the all-time leading points winner in Cup history.
Kerr will go out in Sunday’s third singles match, facing Mel Reid.
