The U.S.G.A. did it’s best to botch things up on the final day of the U.S. Open.
The final seven holes were packed with controversy surrounding Dustin Johnson and the “no ruling” from his walking U.S.G.A. official on the fifth green when he stood over a putt and the ball allegedly moved.
Johnson played like a champion with the cloud of an impending penalty hovering over him.
Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler were livid and they took to the Twitter-sphere to let everyone know.
Spieth tweeted:
“Lemme get this straight. D.J. doesn’t address it. It’s ruled that he didn’t cause it to move. Now you tell him he may have? Now? This a joke?”
Rory’s reaction:
“This is ridiculous. No penalty whatsoever for D.J. Let the guy play without this crap in his head. Amateur hour from the U.S.G.A.”
And Rickie:
“The fact that the U.S.G.A. thinks D.J. caused the ball to move is completely ridiculous. Laughable.”
Yes it was.
