In the ongoing effort to produce the world’s ugliest golf shoes, Spieth One has come up with another contender.
Today we offer the Mexico City edition or perhaps it should be called the “Lucha Libre” edition because you should have a wrestling mask to go with these shoes.
They are ugly for sure, perhaps even uglier than the Seoul editions that were presented here a while back.
These Mexico City editions give us the sad reminder that a lot of the population of Mexico City cannot afford a pair of shoes, much less something as preposterous as these.
We suggest that Senior Salinas, the mogul who put up $100 million to bring the WGC to Mexico City, be forced to wear these shoes to every business meeting he attends for the next year as a simple reminder of the fact that he’s throwing millions at professional golf’s millionaires when he could be throwing that money to the hungry people in his own city.

I love your comments, but you are really taking this Mexico poverty thing to a new level. First, you blame the PGA Tour for having Mexico host the tournament. That I actually agree, a third world country not known for golf should not be hosting a WGC event.
You make it sound like it is the responsibility of the PGA Tour or us as Americans to make sure Mexicans are well taken care of. Mexico is a corrupt country and its poverty is the responsibility of the government. Trying to play a guilty trip on us is not right and it cheapens your “concerns”.
Now the shoes? Come on!

You just contradicted yourself, giving the PGA Tour a pass then saying they are staging an event in a corrupt country. Hey, glad you like the shoes, I’m sure they’d look good on you! You can probably get a matching mask with them.

Completely disagree! Awesome looking shoes. Golf shouldn’t be boring. the shoes are not for everyone, but they are for those that are brave enough to wear them. Have an open mind and appreciate the art.

Golf is rarely boring on Sundays. Not sure how the ratings are looking this year but when the name players skip tournaments, not sure people are giving up other activities to watch, especially with golf season up north upon us. If you consider those shoes art, we’ll just have to agree to disagree…..I’d rather have a Remington sculpture.
