Jordan Spieth’s world (appearance fee) tour continued on Thursday in Singapore.
Spieth, playing on the other side of the world, opened with a four-under par 67 at the Sentosa Golf Club.
Spieth wasn’t kidding when he said his team “wasn’t 100 percent.” His regular caddie, Michael Greller, left for home after the HSBC in Abu Dhabi to rest an injured ankle. Spieth’s manager, Jay Danzi, is on the bag this week in Singapore.
His round got off to a great start when he holed a 25-footer for birdie at the 10th hole of the Sentosa Golf Club. He then peeled off seven straight pars before making birdie at the par five 18th. Birdies on both the front-nine par fives got Spieth into the clubhouse a shot off the lead.
Keith Horne, a 44-year-old from South Africa who barely kept his Asian Tour card, shot 66.
First round play was suspended due to weather and will continue on Friday.
