Henrik Stenson is the European Tour’s leader in their Race To Dubai.
That is their version of the FedEx Cup. Doesn’t pay as well, but it’s still worthwhile for the lads across the pond.
Stenson returns to action this week after sitting out the Turkish Airlines Open, won last Sunday by Thorbjorn Olesen in a career-restoration moment.
Stenson is followed by Danny Willett and Rory McIlroy. Of those three, Willett is in a massive slump, almost finished dead-last in Turkey and is questioning himself on a daily basis. Willett finished 68th in a 78-man field and took to his Twitter feed to post this gem:
“Well this game is really kicking me in the nuts at the minute! If it’s not one thing, it’s another…”
So much for Danny-boy.
McIlroy won’t be in this week’s field, he’ll show up for the DP World Tour Championship in two weeks.
This week’s event is staged at a course in Sun City, South Africa, designed and built by icon Gary Player and appropriately name The Gary Player Country Club.
