As improbable as that sounds, it’s exactly what Steve Bowditch banked for hacking his way around Doral like a weekend golfer.
Bowditch finished an embarrassing 37 over par at the WGC Cadillac.
There is no 36-hole cut at these WGC events so Bowditch was allowed to hack on.
Consider that during his four days of torture, he had five triple-bogeys, he had a 10 on a par four and an eight on another.
We won’t go into the bogeys.
Suffice to say, it’s something he’d like to forget as soon as possible.
Still, he collected last place money and in these fat-city events, it’s a generous $50,000.
His performance may well have set a futility record for WGC events.
