The last time we checked in on Steve Bowditch, he shot four straight rounds in the 80s at Doral, finished dead-last at the WGC-Cadillac and still collected a whopping $50,000 for his ineptitude.
That trend continued Thursday at the Valspar Championship.
The slumping Aussie suffered from two double-bogeys, a triple and four bogeys on his way to shooting 81 at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead course.
Bowditch won’t likely make any money this week, however.
He will have big trouble making the 36-hole cut even though that number may be the highest on the PGA Tour this year. The cut could come at three or four-over par, meaning Bowditch would have to shoot something close to the course record.
The way he’s been hitting it, that’s highly unlikely.
The more probable scenario is that he’ll be heading out early to try and figure out what ails his game.
