Today Larry Rinker, a veteran member of the PGA Tour, talks about the most important part of the golf swing — the setup.
Larry leads in with the startling fact that 80 percent of poor shots come as a result of a poor setup. David Ledbetter confirmed that to me many years ago when you could get a lesson from him for $50 an hour at the old Grenelefe Resort west of Orlando. Ledbetter said that most of his Tour players, when they got out of wack, it was because their set-up was off a bit.
Larry will take you through the proper setup and the differences for the upper, mid and lower core golfers. As Larry indicates today, most of his students are upper core.
For mid-core, Larry breaks down the set-up of his sister, Laurie, who played on the LPGA Tour.
The important components are proper spine angle, hip alignment, grip and stance and he’ll show how each differs depending on if you’re upper, middle or lower core.
