One of the coolest guys on the European Tour is Thongchai Jaidee.
He’s a former paratrooper in the Thai Army who came to professional golf a bit later in life than most.
At age 46, he is an ageless wonder of sorts on the European Tour.
He’s also the 54-hole leader at the BMW Masters and will go out on the Lake Malaren Golf Club Sunday looking for his eighth victory on the European circuit.
He shot 66 on Saturday and is 15-under par. He jumped into a one-shot lead after starting the round three in back of overnight leader Lucas Bjerregaard. Bjerregaard will be in hot pursuit over the final 18, he’s one of three players at 14-under along with Sergio Garcia (67) and Byeong Hun An (66).
American Patrick Reed will start three back at 12-under after shooting 64.
Jaidee understands the day-to-day proposition that is professional golf. “If I play well like this and keep performing like this, I have a good chance,” he said. “But golf, you never know what you’re feeling tomorrow. I’m going to play my own game.”
Jaidee is looking for his second victory of the season and his eighth career win on the European Tour.
