The wheels of justice turn quickly in the U.K.
Thorbjorn Olesen, a member of the victorious European Ryder Cup team in 2018, has a court date to face sexual assault charges.
Olesen was on a British Airways flight from Nashville to London following the conclusion of the WGC St. Jude Invitational in Memphis two weeks ago.
The player called “Thunderbear” may have gotten a bit out of control on that flight.
According to witnesses and U.K. media reports, Olesen, 29, groped a female passenger in the first-class section of the flight and urinated in the aisle. Olesen, who was returning to his home in London, was arrested then released pending further investigation. Olesen’s attorney issued a statement to U.K. media: “Thorbjorn has cooperated fully with the police during their investigation, but while the legal proceedings are still ongoing he unfortunately cannot comment on this matter at this time.”
Olesen heads to Uxbridge Magistrates Court on the outskirts of London on Wednesday, August 21.
In the meantime, Olesen has been suspended by the European Tour pending “the outcome of legal proceedings.”
