Ready for some late night viewing?
It’s on its way next month when Tiger Woods hops over to Japan for some easy overseas money.
Tiger, FedEx Cup champ Rory McIlroy, Hideki Matsuyama and Jason day will be the men to watch on October 21st and of course, the Japanese love to come up with creative names for their events but this one isn’t very creative — The Challenge: Japan Skins. You wonder how long it took them to come up with that one?
The Golf Channel is jumping all over this one and seeing as Japan is on the other side of the International Dateline, folks here in the United States can tune in on Sunday night, Oct. 20th around 11 p.m.
The setting with be Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan.
Tiger hasn’t played since last month’s BMW Championship in the FedEx Cup playoffs. He’ll be over there to play in something called the Zozo that week. It will be Tiger’s first appearance in Japan since 2006.
“I haven’t played a skins format in quite some time, so it will be fun to try something a little different and add a few strategic elements as we compete,” Woods said via his people (agent Marc Steinberg, aka The Great Stiney). “There has always been some friendly banter between us, and that will continue until we get to the first tee.”
Meanwhile, Rory said he’s looking forward to The Challenge.
“There are so many fun elements to The Challenge that will have me wanting to take home that title – playing with Hideki on his home turf, Tiger coming back to Japan with a green jacket,” McIlroy said. “The motivation is certainly there for me, and I’m a huge fan of the skins format. I love the way it rewards attacking play and think it suits my game quite well.
Hopefully Rory will play better than he did Thursday at the BMW European PGA. He put up a 76 on day one.

How fun, yea?
Good work if you can get it.
I used to love the Skins Game, and this version is turning out to be a dream foursome.

What interesting is that they’re playing for peanuts, $350k; Must be some under the table fees being paid, can’t see Tiger getting out of bed for that.
