How many amateur golfers actually have a defined putting warmup routine?
Quick answer — not many.
Today we’re going 10 years back to check out the 37-year-old Tiger Woods to take a close look at his pre-game putting warmup routine.
Tiger won 82 tournaments on the PGA Tour, including 15 major championships because he made so very many clutch putts when the pressure was greatest.
So we can all really learn something from watching Tiger go through this routine.
He starts out hitting short putts with just his right hand then progresses from there.
He does the “gate drill” where he places two tees in the green, opposite the toe and heel of his putter then his some short putts with the putter head moving through the gate.
Tiger warms up with a purpose.
This is some amazing footage. Look close and you’ll see this footage comes from the short time when he ditched his beloved Scotty Cameron and was using a putter Nike built for him.
Of course we know the Nike putter didn’t last long — Tiger went back to the money-maker.
So sit back, and take in the Tiger Routine. It will help you.
