Tiger Woods finally gave his answer to the good folks in Greensboro on Monday.
His answer is now officially “yes” he will play this week in the Wyndham Championship, the final PGA Tour event of the season before the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Woods committed to the event last week but then put a disclaimer that he may or may not play, pending a discussion with what he described as his “team.”
Evidently the “team” gave it a thumbs-up so Woods will compete starting Thursday at Sedgefield Country Club, an old-fashioned golf course where he won’t have to hit many drivers so that should help him out.
Basically, Woods needs a victory to get into the playoffs. Right now he’s 187 in the points standings, 292 behind the 125th guy — Charl Schwartzel.
Only the top 125 get in the playoffs.
