So what’s an hour with Tiger Woods worth?
He used to get appearance fees on the European Tour north of $2-$3 million in his prime, now that’s dropped to around $1 million. That’s four days work if he makes the cut.
But an hour? Oh yes, and throw in a lesson for two.
That went for $210,000 recently in a Hurricane Harvey fundraiser set up by PGA Tour player Chris Stroud.
The event was held at Bluejack National, a new course and housing development about an hour outside Houston. Woods was the course designer and this was his first job in the U.S. so of course he threw his hat in the ring with the one-hour lesson at Bluejack.
So yes, for the eye-ball popping sum of 210 large, some lucky couple gets to hang with Tiger for an hour.
That money went a long way in helping the event post $1 million in money raised for the relief effort.
Stroud was happy with the fundraiser but wants to continue in the effort to help those hit hard by the August storm:
He plans to continue fundraising efforts.
“This is the best event I have ever been a part of, and this is just a start,” Stroud said. “We have a long way to go for recovery to this city, and we want to keep going with this and raise as much as we can and help as many victims as we can.”

That’s a very nice hourly rate for a golf lesson. Would love to know how that goes. Well, great to see him contributing to a worthy local cause!
Wonder about the cost/value of a 9 hole playing lesson with him walking the course with you for a couple of hours. Now THAT would really be something to do. A few inside stories, a little camaraderie, and you might learn a few things that would help your game.
I used to enjoy those playing lessons involving a celebrity and a tour pro that Golf Channel used to show.

Yes, I remember those, one of my favorite old, old golf shows was Sam Snead playing 9 holes against Hollywood celebrities, then he’d give them a lesson afterward…..really cool old shows in black and white.
