Tiger Woods looked tired after his second round Friday at Firestone.
“Yeah, I wore black today,” he lamented, as the heat and humidity beat down on him.
On Saturday he wore cooler colors but his play was poor.
Woods had problems finding birdies from the start. Thought 10 holes he was one-over and things didn’t go well on the back nine. He made three bogeys in a four-hole stretch starting at the 11th and by the 16th hole, CBS analyst Nick Faldo was wondering out loud if Woods’ back was stiff.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Woods said after shooting 73 and falling into a tie for 28th. “Just played like crap.”
Woods iron game was off — he hit just nine of 18 greens but didn’t go to the range after his round.
“I’ve got to recover for tomorrow,” he said. “That’s one of the challenges as we age is trying to recover for the next day. It’s gotten a lot harder.”
