Tiger Woods doesn’t like to sign autographs.
The reason is pretty simple. He has a huge-money deal with Upper Deck. He signs stuff and it is peddled for big bucks by Upper Deck and Woods, in turn, gets a big chunk of those big bucks.
Follow the money.
But on Wednesday during Woods’ Pro-Am round, his playing partners spotted something out-of-the-ordinary in the gallery to the left of the 16th hole at Innisbrook Resort.
There was five-year-old Harrison Connerty wearing a white tee-shirt with this on the front:
“Tiger …. My MOM Wants Your Autograph…”
Too cute.
When Woods was made aware of the child’s shirt, young Harrison was allowed to scamper through the ropes and was there face-to-face with Woods, who autographed the kids shirt and gave him a high-five.
It came as a total delight to mom, Jennifer.
Woods never signs while playing but the action was slow on Wednesday as the Valspar and Woods broke his own strict protocol.
Maybe he’s getting mellow in his old age or maybe, just maybe, Tiger Woods has a softer heart these days when it comes to kids.
Good stuff.
