The player who keeps secrets better than anyone else on the PGA Tour has unveiled another shocker.
Tiger Woods announced on his website that he underwent a second microdiscectomy on Sept. 16 at the Park City Medical Center.
The surgery is the same procedure that he had on March 31, 2014.
After having his worst year ever on the PGA Tour where he missed the cut in three of the four major championships, this latest breakdown in Woods’ body raises questions about his future in the game.
Woods had committed to play in the Frys.com event in the PGA Tour’s Fall Series but that is now out the window.
“This is certainly disappointing but I’m a fighter,” Woods said.
Fighter or not, Woods has been battling on ongoing series of physical ailments as well as no less than three major swing changes over the past decade.
He has not won a major championship since 2008 and with the rise of young talents like Rory McIlroy, Jason Day and Jordan Spieth, it may be difficult for Woods to win another.
Woods will be on hand to host the Hero World Challenge that benefits his foundation later this season.
The 14-time major winner hopes to compete again sometime in 2016.
