Tiger Woods wants to make the 2018 Ryder Cup team as a player.
If that’s going to happen, he’s got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
He missed the cut at Riviera last week and for the first time in a long time, he’ll play two weeks in a row on the PGA Tour.
Woods may not have what it takes to make it as a player on the team captained by Jim Furyk but he has punched his ticket as a Vice Captain.
Furyk named both Woods and Steve Stricker as Ryder Cup Vice Captains Tuesday in Palm Beach Gardens, two days before the start of the 2018 Honda Classic.
If Woods is going to be on the team as a player, he most likely would have to be a captain’s pick. If that’s the case, he’s going to have to find a better tee to green game.
He hit a season low 16 of 36 greens last week and for his past two events, has had problems off the tee as well.
Woods will tee off Thursday morning at 7:45 and will be paired with Patton Kizzire and Brandt Snedeker.
