Last week it was some iron shot swings at the Monterey Peninsula Golf Club.
Over the weekend, Tiger Woods was back home in Jupiter and guess what? He pulled out The Big Dog — his driver.
The normally secretive Woods has become quite the social butterfly lately, posting this latest video of him hitting a driver on a hole at The Medalist, his home club.
It’s a pretty pedestrian swing, in control, not an overwhelming amount of clubhead speed but that’s to be expected at this stage of his recovery from a fourth back surgery.
The talking heads at The Golf Channel were raving about it doing everything but declaring him the favorite to win The Masters next April.
Woods put the tagline “making progress” on the video. At this point, it is.
If he’s able to hit drivers and make iron swings, one wonders out loud if he might just end up making his first comeback appearance at his own tournament in the Bahamas in December.
Maybe, maybe not, but it’s good to see that he can make a driver swing without wincing.
As for a comeback debut in the Bahamas — let the speculation begin.

Hi Tom, wish him nothing but good fortune and respect his quest.
Cannot think of a single other sports figure in any sport who went from absolute master of the universe to someone struggling mightily to remain even a factor in his trade.
