Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III has thrown a bone to his old buddy Tiger Woods.
Love has announced that Woods will serve as one of his Vice Captains at the 2016 Ryder Cup, which begs the question: is that Vice Captain or Captain in charge of Vice?
After all, Tiger’s no slouch when it comes to vice and he’s proven that in the past.
Now Woods will assume a role of leadership under Love along with Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker, neither of which has as much experience as Woods when it comes to vice.
Earlier this year, Golf Channel analyst/commentator Brandel Chamblee insisted that neither Woods or Phil Mickelson is deserving of a leadership role on the U.S. Ryder Cup team.
Obviously Love wasn’t listening to Chamblee when he gave Woods the call.
From now until the Ryder Cup team is announced next year, you’ll hear all this mularkey from Woods as to how he plans on becoming a playing Vice Captain. But first things first, Woods better figure out how he expects to compete at that sort of level after a pair of back surgeries, the latest in September that might take him a year to get over.
Playing Vice Captain? Good luck with that Tiger.
Captain in charge of Vice? Now you’re talkin’ Tiger’s language.
