The 144th Open Championship has been nothing less than a massive struggle for Tiger Woods.
Oliver Brown from the London-based newspaper, The Telegraph, put it best with this lead:
“The lamentable decline of Tiger Woods continues apace at the Old Course that was once his fifedom.”
ESPN analyst Paul Azinger was very blunt with this gem:
“It’s hard to watch the greatest player of his generation be a middle of the pack hack.”
Fact is, Woods isn’t even middle of the pack with his Open Championship coming to an end on Saturday morning when he goes out to finish his second round.
Woods, who made only one birdie under perfect conditions on Thursday, went out and shot two-over on the outward nine at the Old Course. He did manage to birdie the short, easy 10th but is still one-over for his round heading into the tough inward holes.
He’s five-over and with the cut expected to come at even par 144, Woods will miss his second straight cut in a major championship.
