The field is down to 93.
Tiger Woods made it official Friday evening — he’ll be at Augusta National for the Champions Dinner on Tuesday night but won’t tee it up when the 2017 Masters begins on Thursday.
“I won’t be competing in this year’s Masters,” was the simple statement he put on his website.
Comes as no surprise. You don’t just show up and tackle that golf course when your game is not finely tuned and who knows what the state of Woods’ game would be without any competitive rounds.
“I did everything I could to play but my back rehabilitation didn’t allow me to get tournament ready,” was the only additional catch-phrase that Woods added.
Then there’s the old familiar tune: no timeline for his return.
Let the ongoing speculation about Woods’ future continue.
