Tiger Woods sat with Hero World Challenge defending champion Bubba Watson on Tuesday and discussed the world according to Tiger Woods as it stands today.
“It’s a long, long laundry list,” Woods began when asked about his rehab and recovery by Damon Hack of The Golf Channel. “You forget how explosive golf is. I had to really be careful about doing too much too soon.”
Woods also said his decision to withdraw from the Safeway was the right one. “I wanted to have a more well-rounded game,” Woods said, looking back at his last-minute withdrawal. “I figured I waited this long, what’s a little more time to get my game more where I wanted it.”
Woods also said all is well with his short game, the area that showed major deterioration during his struggles the last season before he took the 16 months off. “I love chipping. I’m fine, that part is not an issue.”
When the conversation turned to Bubba, Tiger quickly looked at him and queried: “You still haven’t had a lesson, have you?”
When asked about his expectations for Woods, Bubba said: “The first big goal is get out there and get healthy. We’re just happy he’s playing again. It’s Tiger Woods, we expect him to win and play at the highest level.”
