One of the great places to hang out is Barbara Nicklaus’ kitchen.
Even better if you get to talk to Barbara.
Jack? Forget it, he’ll bore you to death. Barbara is the life of the party. Always has been, she’s the personable half of that great golf couple.
The Nicklaus house in Lost Tree Village was packed on Thursday night. There were a BUNCH of Ryder Cup hopefuls there, hopefully to get a look at the guy who set the standard for career greatness in golf.
What they also got was a close-up of Tiger Woods, who will not play on this Ryder Cup team, at least that’s not the way it’s looking. Most likely he’ll be a cheerleader for team captain Davis Love III.
Right now, you can count Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson and Patrick Reed as guys you will see on the team. Dustin Johnson too.
The heat is on the U.S. team this year. The Cup will be contested on American soil at Hazeltine National in Chaska, Minnesota and for the first time in a while, the Americans will be the favorites, not that that counts for much in this competition that has turned so much in Europe’s favor that the PGA of America came up with a weird “task force” to try and improve the team’s chances.
Hopefully Jack gave them the blueprint for victory.
And that’s pretty simple, something you don’t need a TASKFORCE to figure out:
Play Better, dammit!!!
