Best woman golfer in America today?
Nelly Korda.
The younger of the Korda sisters, Nelly, age 20, has climbed to sixth in the Rolex World Rankings.
She replaces Lexi Thompson as America’s highest-ranked player in the world of women’s professional golf.
Lexi Thompson, who climbed to No. 2 in the world, has steadily tumbled and has fallen to ninth in the newest rankings.
Sung Hyun Park of South Korea is back at No. 1, last year’s No. 1, Ariya Justanugarn, is behind her at No. 2.
Nelly will have a chance to improve her ranking again this week at the Kia Classic. Nelly finished tied for second last week at the Founders Cup in Phoenix, just a shot behind winner Jin Young Ko, who checks in at No. 4.
News from the Kia is that their brand ambassador — Michelle Wie — was once again forced to withdraw from this week’s event, her bum wrist is still a major issue and with the season’s first major (ANA Inspiration) coming up next week, she’s in jeopardy of missing that as well.
