Lydia Ko is now a married woman.
The world’s No. 1 and winner of the $2 million at the CME Group Tour Championship last year, topped off 2022 by marrying fiancee Jun Chung.
The wedding took place in front of a large gathering at the Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul, South Korea on December 30th.
Chang is the son of Ted Chung, vice chairman and CEO of Hyundai Card and Hyundai Commercial.
Last November, Chung was in the crowd watching Ko win at the CME — the LPGA Tour’s season finale. It was his first time seeing her compete in person. She ended up as the LPGA Player Of The Year and won the Vare Trophy for lowest scoring average. She also won the money title and the CME was her third win of the season.
Barry Lane, Former European Ryder Cupper, Dies At Age 62:
Sad news for the DP World Tour — Barry Lane, a five-time winner and former European Ryder Cupper died on New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31).
Lane died after what was described as a “short illness.”
Just last month, Lane and his wife, Camilla, made an emotional trip to Mauritius for the Legends Tour season-ending MCB Tour Championship. There, although obviously very ill, he was able to say goodbye to his friends and contemporaries, as well as present the Rookie of the Year trophy—re-named in his honor—to Brazil’s Adilson Da Silva.
Lane made 693 starts on the European Tour, which is now known as the DP World Tour, and is fourth on the Tour’s all-time appearance list.
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Barry Lane,” European Tour CEO Keith Pelley said. “To have seen such a level of success across both the European Tour and the now Legends Tour shows his dedication to the game of golf and he was a much-loved figure on both tours. The renaming of the Legends Tour’s Rookie of the Year trophy in his honor is a fitting tribute, and I’m delighted he had the opportunity to present it in December.”
Former Master champion Ian Woosnam summed up the level of feeling with his Twitter post: “Very, very sad news today of the passing of Barry Lane. RIP my friend.”
