Brooks Koepka and Chris Stroud didn’t have anything to do at home last week so they grabbed and overseas flight and ended up having a great four days at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
The two young Americans finished at 16-under par, just two back of winner Thorbjorn Olesen.
Koepka’s final round at St. Andrews was an impressive 67 in windy conditions, Stroud was in at 68 on the Old Course.
“I am pretty pleased,” said Koepka. “The conditions were pretty tough, so 67 was fine, just not quite good enough.”
It was Stroud’s first trip to the event that features a round at Carnoustie, one at Kingsbarns and two at the Old Course. “I can’t imagine anything better than this,” Stroud said. “My goal was 20-under. I shot 16 first time here. Pretty amazing.”
