It’s like closing down Bourbon Street.
The Zurich Classic team debacle will go on this weekend but without its biggest names.
The all-star teams of Jason Day-Rickie Fowler and Justin Rose-Henrik Stenson missed the 36-hole cut on Friday.
Teams switched to the best-ball format in windy conditions at the TPC Louisiana but the biggest names couldn’t cut he mustard.
It took seven-under to stick around for the weekend. Day and Fowler shot 71-68, five-under while Rose and Stenson’s Friday 66 wasn’t good enough for them to make it at six-under. All they had to do was come up with a birdie at the par five 18 but neither could do it.
Tough to get excited about the duo of Jonas Blixt and Cameron Smith leading the pack at 15-under. They were one of five teams to shoot 62 Friday in tougher wind conditions.
Patrick Reed, who has struggled this season, found some inspiration from partner Patrick Cantlay and they joined the 62 club and moved into second place at 14-under par.
The format switches back to alternate shot on Saturday, with best ball for the final round.
