There are now three men committed to the USA Golf Team for the Rio Olympics.
Rickie Fowler went to Twitter to let everyone know that he’ll be in Rio:
“Looking forward to wearing some red, white and blue in Rio.”
So said Fowler on Twitter.
Fowler is now on board with Bubba Watson and Patrick Reed. Reed moved into a spot when Dustin Johnson declined to compete due to concerns about the Zika virus.
On Tuesday, the highest-ranked U.S. player — Jordan Spieth, announced that he would not be playing in Rio with Fowler, Watson and Reed. Spieth’s main concern, like that of Jason Day and Dustin Johnson is the dangers presented by the Zika virus.
Spieth said he would elaborate at his Tuesday press conference from the Open Championship.
As it now stands, the U.S. Olympic golf team will consist of Watson, Fowler, Reed and Mat Kuchar, who’s in for Spieth. Kuchar said he will play in Rio.
