There will be patrons at the 2021 Masters in April, but how many remains to be seen.
Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley announced on Tuesday that ANGC will limit attendance for the 85th playing of The Masters April 5-11. The tournament will be structured with health and safety standards in line with those instituted for last November’s tournament.
Here is Ridley’s statement:
“Following the successful conduct of the Masters Tournament last November with only essential personnel, we are confident in our ability to responsibly invite a limited number of patrons to Augusta National in April. As with the November Masters, we will implement practices and policies that will protect the health and safety of everyone in attendance. Nothing is, or will be, more important than the well-being of all involved.
“While we are disappointed that we will be unable to accommodate a full complement of patrons this year, we will continue our efforts to ensure that all who purchased tickets from Augusta National will have access in 2022, provided conditions improve.”
Unlike last November, Ridley also announced that the club will conduct the second annual Augusta National Women’s Amateur as well as the Drive, Chip and Putt national finals for junior golfers.
ANGC is in the process of contacting all the ticket holders on its rolls and intends to offer refunds to the patrons not selected to attend.
R&A Joins The “Shun-Trump” Movement with PGA Of America:
The PGA Of America has already pulled the plug on the site for its 2022 championship and now the R&A is on board with the “Shun-Trump” movement.
After the 2022 PGA Championship was removed this week from Trump National in Bedminster, N.J., the Royal and Ancient gave the bum’s rush to historic Turnberry.
In a brief statement, R&A chief executive Martin Slumbers said that he won’t bring The Open back to Trump-owned Turnberry “in the foreseeable future.”
“We will not return until we are convinced that the focus will be on the championship, the players and the course itself,” Slumbers said, “and we do not believe that is achievable in the current circumstances.”
Turnberry hasn’t hosted an Open since 2009, when Stewart Cink defeated Tom Watson in a playoff. Trump bought the property in 2014 but has yet to land a men’s Open. The AIG Women’s Open was held there in 2015, an event overshadowed by the presence of the then-presidential candidate.
It’s become obvious that Turnberry has been dropped from the Open rota.

It’s good to hear about Patrons, especially knowing they will not likely do anything unless it’s safe. I felt they could have already had some more patrons in November.
As for trump. No pga. No Open. No US Open likely. And Literally zero chance Trump ever becomes a member at the National now.
Golf is clearly breaking up with Trump, and they are no longer scared to tell him it’s him.
