Today’s video lesson from Josh Koch brings back Brad Faxon for a really cool primer on putting and Brad is known as one of the best-ever putters to have played on the PGA Tour.
Brad shows how lag in the golf swing translates to lag with your putter. He points out how putters were very light when he was growing up in the game — the old Bullseye putters were very light. Today, they’ve gone very heavy.
Brad gives us some great drills to improve the feel with the putter and drills that will help create that “lag” effect that we see in good putters. Baxon also discusses proper grip pressure and also talks about something that most never hear about — softer arms at setup.
So click on Josh’s session with Brad, filmed at Old Marsh over in Palm Beach Gardens where Faxon is a member.

Great stuff Tom.
This josh Koch can definitely put together a nice learning show.
But man brad faxon, who obviously is super knowledgeable about this game and especially putting—is so open and willing to share great information.
Fax is a true teacher. It’s like he is more motivated by his disgust for seeing bad putting then his business as a teacher; which is everything I ever want to feel from a teacher.
As I think you know Tom, Faxon is involved with an affordable learning product called Blast which basically corrects many putting woes by simply striving for proper backstroke and downstroke times. You can also measure face rotation, loft changes and more. But many of those other factors are corrected by maintaining the proper times. It’s just a great product we personally don’t use enough (life) but should because it’s incredibly helpful at creating not only a good stroke but a consistent one.
I increasingly feel if brad faxon puts his name on a putting product or lesson or whatever: pay attention. If it conflicts with what you learned in the past: change it.

Baxter, thanks, Josh Koch is a real asset to DogLegNews, good player, respected teacher and did quite well at the Long Drive Championship considering he was dealing with neck issues in the weeks preceding the event so he wasn’t able to prepare as he normally would. And yes, Brad Faxon is Brad Faxon — he can probably putt better with one hand than most of us can using two…!

Absolutely …you can see it in this video, Faxons one hand stroke is better than most.

Exactly what I was thinking, I’d love to have that one-hand stroke he made and ball buried in the cup….
