There may be no stopping Joaquin Niemann at the Genesis Invitational.
After doing what no other player has done in the history of the PGA Tour — opening with consecutive round of 63 — Niemann shot a three-under par 68 on moving day and stands at 19-under heading into Sunday’s finale at Riviera Country Club.
Niemann now owns the 36 and 54-hole scoring records and this prestigious event is his to win or lose over the final 18 holes.
Rookie Cameron Young started the day two back of Niemann and after shooting 69, he’s 16-under and three back with a chance to catch Niemann if the youngster from Chile slips on Sunday.
It looks like a two-man race. Viktor Hovland shot the day’s low round with a six-under par 65 and will start the final 18 six back of Niemann.
Justin Thomas could only manage a one-under par 70 and he got there with a birdie on the 18th hole. He’s 12-under, seven back and will need a very low round just to have a chance.
Collin Morikawa’s 68 got him to 11-under, eight back of the leader.
