“I’m tired,” Tiger Woods said after Saturday’s long day at Bellerive.
“It takes a lot out of you,” he admitted after a day where he played 29 holes at the PGA Championship.
He played well enough early Saturday morning to post a second round 66 then got off to a really hot start for his third round.
Woods posted five front-nine birdies but an unexpected three-putt at the fifth hole kept him from turning in 30.
The back nine wasn’t as kind to him. He rolled off nine straight pars. “I hit it good on the back nine. I just didn’t make anything.” He was shaking his head over his par at the easy par five 17th.
Woods feathered his second from 232-yards out and it settled inside 20 feet for eagle.
“I shouldn’t have been that aggressive,” Wood said, describing his try for eagle at 17. He blew it through the break and left himself four feet coming back. He missed the birdie putt.
“It’s been a long day,” Woods said, shaking his head recalling the missed birdie opportunity. “It could have been closer but I have a shot going into tomorrow.”
Woods will play the final 18 with Jason Day.
