The ladies are in a serious deadlock on the other side of the world as the LPGA Tour continues its Korean vacation.
What you have outside Incheon at the SKY72 Resort’s Ocean Course is a logjam at the top of the leaderboard after 36 holes that includes the top-two-ranked players in the world.
You have No. 1 Sung Hyun Park up there, still getting a lot of applause from the fans on hand after South Korea’s win at the UL Crown last week. Park has two rounds of 68 that have her at eight-under par along with No. 2 Ariya Jutanugarn (69-67) from Thailand.
Two might be company but England’s Charley Hull decided to get in on the action as did Danielle Kang from the good old USA.
Hull and Kang each have gone 67-69 to join the eight-under gang going into the weekend.
The weather’s been on the chilly and windy side but it hasn’t stopped the world’s top two from setting up a showdown.
Lydia Ko shot 68 on Friday to get herself in contention at six-under along with first round leader Nasa Hataoka from Japan. Hataoka held the first round lead with a 65 but struggled on Friday and her 73 dropped her back into a tie with Ko.
Lexi Thompson’s round of 72-71 left her in a tie for 13th at one-under par.
Michelle Wie celebrated her 29th birthday on Thursday and maybe celebrated too much. She has rounds of 76-77 in the books and she’s tied for 70th in the 78-player field. Good news is there’s no cut and she can stick around for the weekend and keep on celebrating.
