Matt Wolff and Collin Morikawa made it look like a college tournament Saturday at the 3M — almost.
Wolff got everyone’s attention in the afternoon at TPC Twin Cities when he shot at 10-under par 62 and shot up the leaderboard.
By day’s end the former Oklahoma State golfer was joined by another player who just ended his college career — Collin Morikawa, formerly of Cal Berkeley. Both are in the tournament on sponsor exemptions. Morikawa joined Wolff at 15-under par thanks to a solid 64 on moving day.
One player who didn’t do much moving was overnight leader Bryson “Slow Mo” DeChambeau.
DeChambeau birdied his first hole of the day then went on a dry spell, a long dry spell. His bogey at the 13th dropped him out of the lead but then he got back into a tie with a closing birdie at 18. Those were his only two of the round.
Eighty-five players made the 36-hole cut. A secondary cut came after the round was done at five-under par.
