Tom Edrington

Tom Edrington spent the first 10 years of his misguided youth as a sports writer for the Tampa Tribune. His career brought him face to face with many of sports greatest stars -- Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Muhammad Ali, Don Shula, countless Hall of Fame NFL stars, more PGA Tour players than he can count. In 1980 he was honored by the Golf Writers Association of America for writing the best news story that year, his coverage of Jack Nicklaus' U.S. Open victory at Baltusrol. Today, 36 years later, golf is still a great part of his life, thanks to competitive playing days and the wonderful people he has met on this fabulous journey.

I like DJ (16-1) coming off a hot Sunday at sawgrass to finish 9th. His odds aren’t exactly something to get excited about.

Jt, viktor and Collin off a MC are about 10-1. Yawn at those odds as well. Same with Xander off a MC and Oostheisen at 2o-1.
Not super excited with Casey, burns and MC Brooks at 25-1.

If it’s windy Bubba is at 45. Knox at 50.

Kisner coming off a fourth and Varner off a 6th and Harman off a t63 are all more interesting in the 60s-1.

Munoz is in the 70s coming off around 30th place last week. Vegas is in the 90s-1.

At 100 to 1 svensson, kizzire, molinari and especially ghim coming off 6th at sawgrass look intriguing.

Long list at 125 including Dahmen who like Hovland showed a different side and was lucky not to bet with Berger where Bergs ball crossed at 16 Monday…argument aside Dahmen finished low 3os despite a frustrating final round 73.

Theegala, Cink and captain Zack look like fun bets at 150-1. McDowell is at 175.

    Higgs and Reavie at 200-1.

Shwartzel at 250-1 seems almost a bit insulting. New captain Stensson is at 250.

My favorite from the long shots at 300-1 is my boy Hahn.

Bubba can’t play this course very well, I watched him several years ago, tree-lined, pretty tight, not enough room for him to hit those huge fades….I like Collin, this is his kinda golf course…..I’ve probably played it 50 times over the years…..don’t laugh but I won my flight when they used to play the Bill CUrrie Ford Classic there…

        That’s cool. It’s a nice place.
Morikawa is never a bad straight up pick but he hasn’t been nearly his sharpest and this is Bermuda grass not his bread and butter.
I know Bubba likes those tree lined courses but yea it’s unlikely. Aside from that great day in the wind last week Bubbas game likely isn’t sharp enough.
