On typical Sunday, the Old Course is closed and it becomes the equivalent of a park for the residents of St. Andrews.
They stroll the fairways and many bring their dogs — Scotland is a nation of dog lovers and we’ve relayed that to the dogs in the DogLegNews dog house.
With brings to the forefront once again, our favorite sign that is near the Jigger Inn where residents can enter the course to stroll, typically accompanied by their pets.
“Doug Fouling” Scotland Act 2003 — is how the sign begins and it reads:
“You MUST now clean up after your dog on the links.
“There is a 40 (pound) penalty for offenders.
Thank-you for your co-operation.”
The dogs brought up a great question — who enforces the 40-pound penalty for not picking up the poop?
