We knew this was coming and now the PGA Tour has made it official — it has cancelled four more events starting with the RBC Heritage that always goes the week after The Masters.
Also done will be the Zurich team event in New Orleans (April 30), the Wells Fargo (April 27) and the Byron Nelson (May 4).
It was a necessary step as the coronavirus spreads, it’s now reported in all 50 states.
Many large population areas are considering “stay at home” orders as they’ve already done in San Francisco.
In the meantime, tour players have gone home and some are taking an extended home vacation.
Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas went mano-a-mano last week and while Rickie hasn’t played well on tour, he threw at 60 at J.T. Bear’s Club? Perhaps, no venue identified. For the record, J.T.’s 65 got smoked.
On Monday, Tiger Woods took to his Twitter account to wish everyone well, first anyone’s heard from him in a while:
There are a lot more important things in life than a golf tournament right now. We need to be safe, smart and do what is best for ourselves, our loved ones and our community.

Paddy Harrington wasn’t celebrating St. Patrick’s Day:
Hit a few wedges today at home. Really struggling to be motivated in these difficult times. Preparing for the worst, hoping for the best. #coronavirus #SocialDistancing pic.twitter.com/

As for Phil Mickelson, well, Lefty may be taking it easy in a big way:
After arriving home safely and with a month off, I could sense things were going to go one way or the other. I was either going to use this time to workout, get fit and stronger or I was going to lay in bed, watch shows and eat. After day 1, the latter is in the lead.

New social media darling Max Houma can’t decide to eat or exercise:
With the PGA Tour on hiatus, I’m not sure if I’m gunna get super ripped or super thick by the time we get back to work. Stay tuned
— max homa (@maxhoma23) March 13, 2020
Andrew “Beef” Johnston doesn’t need toilet paper, he has his crucial supplies:
The serious thing is have I got enough beer and snacks though
— Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston (@BeefGolf) March 13, 2020
On the opposite end of that spectrum, Talor Gooch was reaching out to some tour players who have JaniKing as a sponsor:
Hey @JaniKingTowel mind sending me a 💩 ton of towels to my house? In case I get home and run out of TP and can’t find any… #kidding #butmaybenot #softtowels
— Talor Gooch (@TalorGooch) March 13, 2020
Yeah, one thing you can bet on is most of those guys are going to be chomping at the bit to get back in action if and when the PGA Tour resumes play.
Hopefully it’s sooner than later.

Rbc hurts. Zurich too now that it’s a team event. Quail is pretty awesome also.
And while mr Nelsons is not my favorite event or course it will be missed as well.
So sad.

Love the RBC, mainly because of the course; Team event doesn’t do anything for me……They can’t decide where to play the Nelson, so many different venues but the Salesmanship Club in Dallas is the best fundraising group there is!
