John Daly was begging for a cart to ride at the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
The R&A has said a firm “NO” to Daly.
The R&A had this to go with the decision:
“We appreciate the difficult John is facing and have full sympathy for him as this is clearly a serious, long-term condition. Having considered all of the relevant factors, the Championship Committee has decided to decline his request.
“We believe that walking the course is an integral part of the Championship and is central to the tradition of link golf which is synonymous with The Open. We must also ensure that, as far as possible, the challenge is the same for all players in the field.”
Hip-hip hoo-ray for the R&A.
No cart for John Daly.
Of course Daly was looking for immediate sympathy but says he’s still going to try and haul his fat carcass around Royal Portrush.
Daly took to Twitter with this tidbit:
“Fingers crossed I can make it thru the pain. See you in Ireland, Grip it & Rip it! JD”
In the meantime, John Daly can visit the Dog House. The dogs have a cart for him to ride.

Pretty bad to still play after making the request. Disability means you cannot do something, not that you prefer not doing it.

It’s John Daly just trying to stay relevant….sad but true
