It’s a tough act to follow when you shoot 59.
Sam Saunders followed his up with what looked like another extraordinary round on Friday at the Web.com Tour Championship.
Saunders was having a great second round. He was seven-under par for the day on his home course, the Atlantic Beach Country Club. That was through his first 15 holes. He stumbled with his first bogey of the day at the 16th then immediately bounced back with birdie at the 17th, heading for the par five 18th, looking to post 64 with a par, 63 with a birdie.
Instead, Saunders finished with a dreaded double-bogey seven and signed for 66.
He’s still 17-under through 36-holes, two shots better than Julian Etulain of Argentina, who posted 63.
There were more low scores on day two.
Bronson Burgoon (63), Jonathan Byrd (65), and Robert Castro (64) were all in at 13-under par.
