Two Dallas residents — Jordan Spieth and Sebastian Munoz — will go head-to-head just outside their hometown in the Sunday finale at the Byron Nelson championship.
Spieth fashioned an eight-under par 64 that got him to 20-under par and into the final group with Munoz, who was tied for the 36-hole lead and is now the solo leader after a 66 on Saturday got him to 21-under par.
Munoz had it to 22-under but missed the green at 16 and made his only bogey of the day. He had a chance to get back to 22-under but missed a birdie attempt at 18 from just inside nine feet.
Joaquin Niemann’s 65 got him to 19-under and he’s the only player in at that number.
Spectacular round of the day belonged to James Hahn. Nine birdies and an eagle at the par five 12th added up to an 11-under par 61 and put Hahn in the battle. He sits at 18-under along with Justin Thomas. Thomas shot 64.
The world’s No. 1, Scottie Scheffler, put a 65 on his card and will start the final round just five back of Munoz at 16-under par.
