Apparently Jason Day is having better time off from golf than Jordan Spieth.
How else can you explain the madness, the insanity that is the Official World Golf Rankings?
Both Day and Spieth are taking some well-deserved time off from golf. Last we checked, Day stunk it up at the Presidents Cup and Spieth was pretty good until he lost his singles match on the final day.
Last we checked, Spieth won the Tour Championship and blew everyone out of the tub to win the FedEx Cup title and all the loot that went with it.
So, the new rankings are out and Day is No. 1 — again. He has 12.4235 points under that wacky system, algorithm or whatever the stat geeks use to declare who’s who in the world of golf. For the record, they have Spieth with 12.3963 points.
The big move of the week came when Emiliano Grillo won the Frys.com Open and jumped from No. 72 in the world to No. 36.
Here’s another shocker — Kevin Na is a top 25 player. Na, who lost in a playoff for the third time in his career last Sunday, has exactly one win in 13 years. He is now the 24th best player in the world according to the OWGR.
Go figure.
