They were both prima-donnas on the PGA Tour and we haven’t really heard anyone in the know moaning that they miss seeing Brooks Koepka or Bryson DeChambeau on the PGA Tour.
And both are screaming examples of how unmotivated players can be if they get paid HUGE money just to show up at exhibition matches.
Let’s address Koepka first. Good old Brooksie has played in four of the five LIV events (he wasn’t in the London field). You may or may not recall that Brooks used to mumble and grumble (yeah, in that famous Koepka monotone) about how he really didn’t care much for regular PGA Tour events — he considered himself a “major machine” and for two short years, that’s what he was.
Noticed the term “was.” To understand why Brooks ran to the LIV, consider that in 2022 he missed the cut at The Masters and Open Championship, finished a whopping 22nd at the PGA and and a wonderful 55th at the U.S. Open. Yeah, this is the same Brooks who boasted to Golf Digest that he’d probably pass the Tiger Woods resume of 15 major championships. So can you make a case that Brooks is terribly motivated on this LIV exhibition? The answer is a resounding hell to the no!
As for personality? Who missed those monotone interviews where Brooks’ mouth was moving but nothing but some sort of mumbling would be audible. Nope, one of the worst personalities ever on the PGA Tour. The only thing that made him half interesting was the infamous Brooks-Bryson social media feud.
As for Bryson, well, DeChambeau can fly off the handle like no one else and that was evident last Sunday when he crossed paths with a gallery rope that wasn’t properly lowered. Swat! Right across the face and after hearing his profanity-laced tirade, well, you would have thought they needed an ambulance to cart His Brysoness from the property.
The thing with Bryson was, he had a hard time being one of the fellas. He just didn’t fit in with his quirkiness, his lack of respect for PGA Tour rules officials, shoving television cameras (doesn’t have to worry about that on the LIV) and his generally poor deportment.
So how as DeChambeau performed to date on the LIV. Pretty pitiful at best. He finished 10th in Portland, a lowly 34th at Trump’s Bedminster event, he tied for 17th in Boston then managed to finish 10th last week in Chicago. Given his talent level, Bryson’s been a terrific slouch on the LIV. Motivated? Oh hell no.
So now LIV departs the good old USA for parts unknown, somewhere far away. And that’s a good place for Bryson and Brooksie — far away.
The Lamest Commissioner Visits Capitol Hill:
So word is out that The Lamest Commissioner In All The Land is heading to Capitol Hill this week and is supposedly meeting with anyone willing to let Greg Norman into their office. Now could it possibly be that Norman will be toting a brief case stuff with dirty Saudi money? That sounds strange but whoever heard of members of Congress leaving office with a lousy financial statement?
The LCIATL has been griping a lot lately. He’s going totally ballistic over the fact that his LIV exhibition/circus/free beer and ticket giveaway has yet to be recognized by the Official World Golf Rankings. Norman complained they are outdate, probably not realizing that they have just recently completed a total overhaul of the system. Still, it’s not something that moves quickly. It took Tiger Woods two years before world ranking points became available to players in his Hero World Challenge and that was packed with top 10 players and they actually played, you know, 72 holes.
It also seems that LIV has gone out and bought themselves a lobbyist — former Republican congressman Benny Quayle of Arizona — to do the bidding for The Infidels.
LPGA Tour Heads To Wal-Mart World:
The LPGA Tour heads back to Rogers, Arkansas for an event that has become a staple on the ladies circuit — the NW Arkansas Championship, which has the support of Arkansas-based Wal-Mart (aka Wally World).
Pinnacle Country Club is the host course and last year Nasa Hataoka won last year, shooting 16-under par (65-65-67) for the 54-hole event. The Japanese star has had a good time at the Pinnacle Country Club. She set the tournament record of 21-under par in 2018 with rounds of 64-65-63.
This is not one of those events where par is a good score. In 2016 Lydia Ko shot 66-62-68. In 2017 So Yeon Ryu went to No. 1 in the world with rounds of 65-61-69.
The 54-hole events begins on Friday.
Patrick Reed Heads To French Open:
Golf Channel and Brandel Chamblee-suing Patrick Reed, who is desperate for world ranking points, heads to France and is in the field for this week’s French Open on the DP World Tour.
Reed, another LIV Defector, is teetering at No. 50 in the rankings.
Setting for Europe’s oldest national championship is Le Golf Nationale, where Reed played his last Ryder Cup match and where he basically threw everyone on his team under the bus. It was a bad week for the U.S. team as they were crushed by the European squad.
Nicolas Colsaerts is the defending champion. Colsaerts won last year and ended a seven-year winless drought on the European circuit.

I agree liv shouldn’t receive full owgr points in its current form, but they should receive something. What if cam smith reels off a few majors in the next couple of years ranked 500 in the world? Then the owgr become inaccurate and irrelevant.
Or what if Rory completes his career grand slam at the masters in a field missing Gooch, Wolff, Niemann, Leishman, Oosthuizen, Ancer, Kokrak etc, all top 50 players, because of no owgr points. Then it’s a hollow win that will forever have an asterisk next to as a win against a vastly reduced field.

The criteria for ranking points was established a LONG TIME AGO. LIV is demanding everything to fit their narrative….The top 50 will be at The Masters….Matt Wolff’s game went south well before he went to LIV, that’s why he went, he’s now 112th in the OWGR; Winning a major gets you big world ranking points even if you are on the LIV…..I see Patrick Reed, dangling at 50 is in the French Open field this week……the LIVers can still play the DP World Tour and get ranking points; Truth is LIV does NOT meet the criteria for ranking points….that’s pretty simple to understand…..where’s Pat Perez ranked? Tiger Woods’ Hero Open had the limited field (20 or so I believe) but they were among the top 25 in the world and it took him two years to get points and they play 72 holes; Gooch and the rest can still go through qualifying for the Open Championship and US Open and if they’re that good, they’ll get in the field….don’t know what the PGA is going to do. Oh by the way, wait until Friday and see what kind of reception The Lamest Commissioner In All The Land got on Capitol Hill……
