Rory McIlroy Is Your New Favorite To Win The Masters - Dog Leg News

About the author

Tom Edrington

Tom Edrington spent the first 10 years of his misguided youth as a sports writer for the Tampa Tribune. His career brought him face to face with many of sports greatest stars -- Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Muhammad Ali, Don Shula, countless Hall of Fame NFL stars, more PGA Tour players than he can count. In 1980 he was honored by the Golf Writers Association of America for writing the best news story that year, his coverage of Jack Nicklaus' U.S. Open victory at Baltusrol. Today, 36 years later, golf is still a great part of his life, thanks to competitive playing days and the wonderful people he has met on this fabulous journey.

You are so correct that TV analyst Zinger seems to think the modern guys hit the way he and his boys did back in the day. Simply put they don’t, these guys can fly a bunker 300 yards out. In his day winner and others hit the bar, today these new players hit the gym or practice range. It truly is a different game than the days of Zinger.

Yes, he’s slow to grasp that but perhaps he’ll eventually understand.

I’d put money on Rory, tiger or Fleetwood for the masters.
Brooks I’m just taking the law of averages working against him. And brooks is a fader like DJ, which does not matter as much these days but it does.
Jason day is looking closer and closer. Justin rose will likely be on a mission. Bryson is my wild card.
Saying tiger hasn’t won since o5 is leaving a lot of the story out; the back and all. Tiger is due IMO.
Augusta should make the 4th shorter and even more quirky when out of position; like the 10th at riviera. Hope they didn’t just lengthen it. I am certainly curious and will get to see it in person again this year!
U gonna be at Augusta Tom ?

Augusta has gotten so crowded that most watch it on television, that’s what they do in the press room….tough to get around there these days….the TV cameras are soooooo good now, you get better perspective at home…I’ve been fortunate enough to attend seven Masters….

I would agree with that with almost every event in sports…except the Masters.
I would pilgrimage over there every year if given the chance. That limited, aging patron crowd doesn’t scare me one bit.
