Tom Edrington

Tom Edrington spent the first 10 years of his misguided youth as a sports writer for the Tampa Tribune. His career brought him face to face with many of sports greatest stars -- Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Muhammad Ali, Don Shula, countless Hall of Fame NFL stars, more PGA Tour players than he can count. In 1980 he was honored by the Golf Writers Association of America for writing the best news story that year, his coverage of Jack Nicklaus' U.S. Open victory at Baltusrol. Today, 36 years later, golf is still a great part of his life, thanks to competitive playing days and the wonderful people he has met on this fabulous journey.

    It was a great event.
Low banter, as anticipated here but still.

The course, a beauty; except for some of those awkward, skinny shaped Sawgrass style ponds, Seminole looks like an Augusta quality links course made by the Donald; no not that one. We’re talking about the No. 2 Donald. No wonder it’s on the short list of best courses.

Tom Don’t blame bill Murray for my boi mikes mistake. Mike, who At the DCP banquet was thankful I took a good picture for him and a group before they were even ready for it, was having so much fun chatting with bill he forgot his job. That’s what bill does.

But Bill made plenty of sense.
He knew everything about every player, about the course, and anything else that came up in conversation, all while being entertaining.

Trump was impressive as well imo the way he spoke about hope.
He made no promises he cannot keep, but as presidents are supposed to do he highlighted the light at the end of the tunnel. He assured the best minds are on this, progress is being made, and that the goal is a complete return to normal; as opposed to a world of face masks and a whole lot of soap.
I deeply appreciate the president acknowledged we cannot make up the loss of life; but everything else can be and will be returned to normal.

The end was a bit anticlimactic.
They could have used an overhead drone to show Rory’s ball was actually closer than Mathews. Like Rory, I’m still not convinced. But Aside from that, it was a great return to live golf.

Thanks Baxter and yes, like the President, I believe there’s light at the end of the tunnel…..here’s hoping we’ll have three majors this season; Looking forward to Tiger, Phil and the QBs this coming Sunday and will look forward to your comments afterward.

Thanks for the nice summary, Tom. I missed the match because I was playing golf Sunday afternoon. Playing almost always trumps watching on TV. I do hope to catch some of the golfers and quarterbacks this coming Sunday.

Good to see you RM; I can play anytime; I”m thinking, how often would I get to see the world’s NO. 1 and No. 5 teaming up, carrying their own bags and playing Seminole? I had to see Seminole because I’ve driven past it so many times….gettin’ hot down here in Tampa, it was nearly 90 that afternoon, my butt was in my chair watchin’…..Sunday with Tiger and Phil will be interesting when they hit the back nine with the modified alternate hot format….THERE WILL be some choking by Brady and Manning.
