There’s a huge emphasis these days on club-fitting — drivers, fairway metals, irons, wedges.
But the most important club in your bag needs to fit you even better than the rest.
That would be your putter.
Too often we’ll see players with a putter that has too short a shaft, too long a shaft or one where the putter doesn’t sit properly at address.
It’s so very, very important to make sure your putter has the proper length along with the correct lie as well as loft, depending on what type of greens you play on for the most part.
So don’t hesitate to have a putter fitting or take the one you already use and make sure it has the optimal setup for your stance and stroke.
And don’t be afraid to experiment with different size grips if your putting isn’t up to snuff. There are so many new grips with different sizes and feel.
As one sage player once said: “Make sure that putter is right for you — it’s the only club you use three times on every hole.”
