While detailed golf tips are a great way to improve specific elements of your golf game, sometimes it’s great to have a reminder of the simple things you can do to keep improving.
Today we have a selection of basic things you can do, which will help you to improve your golf.
Firstly, try and identify your weakness. If you can keep simple statistics every time you play a round of golf, it will not take very long before a pattern begins to emerge. There are many apps you can download which will help you do this and using the information you can see which part of your golf is weakest and work on it.
If you want to improve your golf, you must develop a pre-shot routine. Not everyone will have the same routine and it can be a personal thing but the sooner you get into a habit of doing the same things before every shot, the more consistent you will become.
When heading to the golf club to practice, the temptation is to head straight for the driving range and hit as many balls as you can. While this is better than no practice at all, you must spend time practicing your putting.
If you want to improve your golf game, then putting is going to be very important. Use the practice green to work on your putting from six feet and as you start making the putts, work your way in towards the hole. Do this as often as you can because playing a few practice putts in a rush before your round is not going to improve your score.
Much like every shot on the golf course, you should develop a routine for your putting. Again, it doesn’t really matter what the routine is but if you can do the same little things and get into a nice rhythm before every putt, it will help to build consistency.
Before you play a round of golf, always check your equipment. This is another simple yet crucial thing you can do to improve your golf game.
Check things like the groves on your wedges and the grips on every club. If you are losing control on your shots it could be due to these two issues and not because there is something wrong with your technique.
Try and play different golf courses as often as you can. It’s great to have a home golf club and you should play there regularly but if you want to try and improve different elements of your game, playing on different golf courses will help.
In addition to the above tip, you should try and play golf in different conditions. We all enjoy playing when the sun is out and there is little wind but what if you are playing in a tournament and the weather is wet and windy?
Try and play a round in various conditions and get used to playing different types of shots in wet and windy weather. Doing so will make you confident in your play, whatever the conditions throw at you.
